American Community Journals – the parent company of VISTA Today – is seeking a Traveling Editor/Editor

American Community Journals (ACJ) – the parent company of VISTA Today, MONTCO Today, DELCO Today, and BUCKSCO Today – is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and versatile editor/editor to assist with the editorial operations of its four platforms.

This full-time position will serve as a traveling editor for all of ACJ’s .Today platforms. Primary duties include writing original stories about company affiliate partners and researching, curating and publishing additional stories about companies, nonprofits, universities, communities and people of the region.

He/she will work closely with Affiliate Partners to raise their profile, grow their business and strengthen their connection to the community, throughout writing and storytelling.

The candidate should have a passion and experience in writing and editing news, as well as excellent communication and storytelling skills. He/she should have experience conducting interviews and writing an engaging story based on the content of those interviews. The person should also be savvy about social media and SEO.

Responsibilities:

  • Interview newsworthy personalities and write original reports
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the company’s affiliate partners; improve and publish their content
  • Research online to identify positive stories about local people, places and events
  • Proofreading and editing
  • Post completed stories, including correct hyperlinks and images, to WordPress
  • Analyze data and seek to increase reader engagement and retention

Terms:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, English or a related field (or equivalent in work experience)
  • Excellent command of the English language
  • Professional experience in writing, editing and proofreading
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Very organized and detail oriented
  • A flexible mindset and the ability to rotate and multi-task
  • An appreciation of the business, community, and social culture of the Delaware Valley
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of WordPress is a plus
  • Knowledge of SEO research is a plus
  • Proficiency in social media (including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and Reddit)
