Authorities say boy was shot and injured at school in Memphis, Tennessee

MEMPHIS, Tennessee (AP) – A boy was shot and injured at a school in Memphis, Tennessee on Thursday, authorities said.

The shooting was reported to Cummings School, Memphis police said in a statement. The school includes classes from kindergarten to eighth, according to its website.

The boy was taken to hospital in critical condition and authorities said they were looking for a second boy who they said was the shooter. They did not communicate the ages of either.

Shelby County Schools said in a statement the school has been closed and parents have been notified.

Students and teachers were moved from the school to a staging area, police said.

Photos and videos from the scene showed dozens of police cars outside the school.
