As the end of the school year approaches in several countries, including for children in Mexico across the country, Eutelsat Communications (Euronext Paris: ETL) highlights its major role in the Internet connectivity program para todos (Internet for all ), alongside three leading Mexican service providers, including Apco Networks and Globalsat. Eutelsat is currently providing them with capacity on its EUTELSAT 65 West A satellite, intended to connect rural Mexican schools through the installation of Internet access points.

Apco Networks, Globalsat and another Internet service provider have been selected to support CFE Telecommunications’ government-backed “Internet para todos” connectivity program to accelerate the provision of Internet connectivity throughout Mexico. They operate four powerful Ka beams on EUTELSAT 65 West A to extend coverage to areas beyond the reach of terrestrial infrastructure.

Juan Pablo Cofino, CEO of Eutelsat Americas, said: “Connectivity has become a basic human need, and we are honored to be a key part of the solution to help the Mexican government in its mission to put all Mexicans on line. It also aligns with our CSR mission to bridge the digital divide. Once again, satellite is proving a robust, readily available and cost-effective solution for governments around the world seeking to meet their global service goals.

Orlando Castillo, CEO of Apco Networks, added: “At APCO Networks, we are delighted with the evolution and commitment of Eutelsat and our technology partners which has enabled us to integrate an effective solution to provide a satellite connectivity service in the most remote rural areas of the country, benefiting communities that would otherwise remain isolated and now have the ability to surf the Internet, thus having access to the benefits of connectivity such as communications with family and friends abroad, e-commerce, distance education and thus helping to achieve government objectives through the “Internet para Todos” program.

Eric Cataño Araiza, Founder and CEO of Globalsat, said: “This project is one of the most ambitious that has been developed in this country. The bandwidth offered is of very good quality for the end user. At Globalsat, we are committed to the service we provide to our customers, and more particularly to this great project “Internet para todos” of CFE Telecomunicaciones. We know that with this network we will contribute to reducing the digital divide and to the development of the most remote communities in the country.”
