It was tight between this week’s nominees for Spartanburg Herald-Journal High School Athlete of the Week.
This week’s winner was Gaffney outside linebacker BrayShawn Littlejohn.
Junior, Littlejohn made six tackles – one for a loss – and sacked Byrnes quarterback Gabe Rogers once in the Indians’ Week 4 win over Byrnes.
Littlejohn was an important part of a defense for Gaffney who dominated in a 45-15 win. All night long he was in the backfield causing chaos against the rebels. Littlejohn won and received 39 percent of the vote in this week’s poll.
Other nominees had good weeks as well: JaBryson Hunter finished second in the votes – he did it all in a tight Union County loss to Greer at home. Chapman wide receiver Walt Waddell was third, hitting two touchdowns in the Panthers’ win over Chesnee.
Woodruff wide receiver Mathias Dial and Gaffney running back Tyler Smith completed the vote.
