Sabers start three-game streak with Bruins tonight

The Buffalo Sabers face the Boston Bruins tonight in Game 1 of a three-game series ending Friday. All three games will take place in Buffalo. The Sabers have been playing very competitive hockey lately, and they will look to stay the course against Boston this week.

The Sabers come off a fantastic performance Sunday afternoon against the Penguins. The Sabers won 4-2, led by two goals from Sam Reinhart and 34 saves on 36 shots from Dustin Tokarski. Buffalo continues to show improvement with Don Granato acting as the head coach.

With the Sabers officially out of playoff competition, they can now play the spoiler role. And with less than a month into the season, they’ll be looking to do just that. Boston is currently the fourth seed in the East Division, the last place to advance to the playoffs. The Bruins are just four points ahead of the fifth-seeded Rangers.

The Sabers have yet to beat the Bruins this season. They grew closer in their last match, but fell into a shootout during Taylor Hall’s debut as Bruin. These two teams face off four more times after tonight, and I don’t think there’s another team that Buffalo and their fans would like to try to get out of a playoff berth more than Boston.
